Position Overview

This part-time role involves supporting classroom educators during breaks and planning periods to ensure compliance with various educational standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Adhere to DSHS regulations (WAC).
2. Apply Developmentally Appropriate Practices to foster the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
3. Utilize respectful guidance techniques that honor each child's individuality and developmental stage.
4. Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to design and implement suitable curriculum for toddlers or preschoolers.
5. Promote language acquisition and encourage self-sufficiency and independence among children.
6. Monitor and assess each child's development, sharing insights with the Lead Teacher.
7. Function as a cooperative team member, potentially overseeing and guiding the work of others.

8. Maintain open communication with the Program Manager and Lead Teacher regarding program operations, children, and parental engagement.
9. Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
10. Regularly evaluate classroom and program needs, providing feedback to the Program Manager or Lead Teacher.
11. Engage with parents in a professional and transparent manner, directing concerns about child development or center policies to the appropriate staff.
12. Follow the guidelines outlined in the Early Learning Center Handbook and Personnel Handbook.
13. Supervise in the absence of core teaching staff.
14. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. At least six months of experience in an early childhood setting.

Preferred Qualifications
1. One year of experience in an early childhood environment.
2. 20 credits in early childhood education or a combination of education and experience.
3. Experience in an Early Head Start Program.
4. Infant/Toddler certification.

Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of a criminal history background check is required prior to employment, including a portable background check and fingerprinting. A valid food handler's card is necessary, along with a TB test prior to employment. CPR/First Aid certification must be obtained.

Regular attendance and the ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, sitting on the floor, and lifting children weighing between 35 to 45 pounds are essential.

This part-time position is governed by relevant regulations and is scheduled for Monday through Friday, with flexible hours totaling up to 17 hours per week.

The hourly wage is $16.28.
