Job Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the educational activities of young children enrolled in the Early Learning Center at Tacoma Community College. The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Teacher and Center Director to plan and implement environmental curriculum, observe and document child development, and provide a safe and nurturing environment for children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing environmental curriculum that meets the needs of young children.
  • Child Observation and Documentation: Observe and document child development, identifying areas of strength and need.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, ensuring the well-being and safety of children.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
Requirements
  • Education: Early Childhood Education degree or equivalent, or completion of Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Washington State Credentials Certification.
  • Experience: One year of experience working with young children in an early childhood education setting.
  • Skills: Proficient in using computer programs, such as Outlook, Word, and Excel; ability to lift and carry 35-45 pounds; valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time classified position scheduled to work Monday through Friday, with flexibility in scheduling required to meet the department's needs. The salary range is $3,558 - $4,194 monthly, and Tacoma Community College offers a comprehensive benefits package.
