The Ralph H Johnson VA is seeking a physician leader for the role of Deputy Chief of Staff within a 1A complexity facility.

The Deputy Chief of Staff will have full accountability to the Chief of Staff for patient care programs and educational activities within clinical services. This role involves collaboration with the Senior Executive Leadership Team to plan, direct, coordinate, and supervise administrative activities essential for patient care.

The Deputy Chief of Staff will actively engage in the coordination and integration of clinical and support programs to meet veterans' needs, ensuring compliance with regulations, medical staff bylaws, facility policies, and performance measures. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and monitoring quality improvement measures for process enhancement.
  • Evaluating clinical workload and resource requirements.
  • Conducting cost/benefit analyses for new services and program expansions.
  • Providing strategic advice to define and achieve the facility's mission and goals.
  • Establishing policies and guidelines for continuous comprehensive services.
  • Maintaining productive relationships with affiliated medical schools.

The Deputy Chief of Staff will work closely with the Chief of Staff and the second Deputy Chief of Staff to formulate and recommend comprehensive medical care programs.
