The Ralph H Johnson VA Medical Center is seeking a physician leader for the position of Deputy Chief of Staff at our 1A complexity facility.

Contractual Obligations: There is no Physician Employment Contract, and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.

The Deputy Chief of Staff will be accountable to the Chief of Staff for overseeing patient care programs and educational activities within clinical services. This role serves as a vital assistant to the Chief of Staff and collaborates with the Senior Executive Leadership Team to plan, direct, coordinate, and supervise administrative activities related to patient care.

The Deputy Chief of Staff will actively engage in:

  • Coordinating and integrating clinical and support programs to address veterans' needs.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations, medical staff bylaws, facility policies, and performance measures.
  • Developing and monitoring quality improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluating clinical workload and resource requirements.
  • Conducting cost/benefit analyses for new services and program expansions.
  • Providing strategic advice to define and achieve the facility's mission and goals.
  • Establishing policies and guidelines for comprehensive service delivery.
  • Maintaining collaborative relationships with affiliated medical schools.

The Deputy Chief of Staff will work closely with the Chief of Staff and the second Deputy Chief of Staff to formulate and recommend comprehensive medical care programs.
