Utility Services Worker III/CDL

The Utility Services Worker III/CDL is a highly skilled position responsible for performing complex tasks to support the operation and maintenance of the water distribution and sewer collection systems. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering plans, maps, and designs, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities- Performs the full range of complex manual and technical tasks to support the general maintenance, repair, and replacement activities of the water distribution and sewer collection systems.
- Operates a variety of vehicles and equipment, including trailers, dump trucks, and compressors, to perform tasks such as shutting off water mains, repairing and replacing mains, service lines, taps, valves, hydrants, etc.
- Investigates sewer complaints, assesses building sewers to locate probable areas of obstruction, and recommends types of service and equipment needed.
- Distributes and serves appropriate notifications to customers, including notices on service interruptions, water shut-offs, and other verbal and written communications.
- Collects samples and performs field-level water quality analysis in water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
- Ensures the proper execution of construction work following acceptable practices and industry standards.
- High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate and four (4) years of progressive experience directly related to work involved with investigating, repairing, and maintaining water distribution and/or sewer collection systems.
- Must possess and maintain a current valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License, Commercial Driver's License - Class B with air brakes, Tanker's N Endorsement.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, maps, and designs.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.

The position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 90 pounds) on a highly frequent basis, and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time. There are routine risks of exposure to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture, and air pollution.
The position may involve periodic risks of exposure to raw sewage, chemical substances, and physical trauma of minor nature such as cuts, bruises, and minor burns.

Incumbent is required to work shift work, holidays, and weekends. Incumbent is subject to being placed on call during hours and schedule identified by the Authority and is required to work overtime during emergencies.
