Utility Services Worker III/CDL

The Utility Services Worker III/CDL is a highly skilled position responsible for performing complex tasks to support the operation and maintenance of the water distribution and sewer collection systems. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering plans, maps, and designs, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a full range of complex manual and technical tasks to support the general maintenance, repair, and replacement activities of the water distribution and sewer collection systems.
- Perform emergency and scheduled work, including shutting off water mains, repairing and replacing mains, service lines, taps, valves, hydrants, etc.
- Investigate and relieve obstructed building sewers, repair and construct sewer systems, and inspect public sewer pipelines.
- Distribute and serve notifications to customers, including notices on service interruptions, water shut-offs, and other verbal and written communications.
- Operate a variety of vehicles and equipment, including trailers, dump trucks, jet vac combination sewer cleaners, compressors, and tractors with front-end loaders and other attachments.
- Read and interpret engineering plans, maps, designs, and drawings, and prepare as-built drawings and system updates.
- Collect samples and perform field-level water quality analysis in water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
- Comply with applicable safety rules and regulations, including confined space, traffic control, excavation work, and other hazards.
- High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate and four (4) years of progressive experience in investigating, repairing, and maintaining water distribution and/or sewer collection systems.
- Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License, Commercial Driver's License - Class B with air brakes, Tanker's N Endorsement.
- Skill in the use of a full range of tools and equipment of the trade, including backhoes, dump trucks, and compressors.
- Ability to determine appropriate methods, equipment, materials, and techniques required for performing work assignments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, maps, designs, and drawings.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
