Position Overview

This role is pivotal in managing the registration process, securing sponsorship, and facilitating applications for various funding programs at the County, State, and Federal levels. The incumbent will ensure that all necessary steps are taken to assist patients in navigating financial assistance options effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reception and Registration: Handle patient reception and ensure accurate registration processes.
  • Insurance Verification: Conduct thorough verification of insurance details and notify payors as necessary.
  • Authorization Checks: Verify authorizations and secure sponsorship for patients seeking assistance.
  • Patient Education: Inform patients and their families about various financial assistance programs, including Medi-Cal, Medicare, and other relevant services.
  • Application Processing: Complete applications for assistance programs and make appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Payment Collection: Collect payments, co-pays, and deductibles while ensuring all reimbursement avenues are explored.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a High School Diploma and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the healthcare sector. A solid understanding of eligibility and authorization requirements for Federal, State, and County programs is essential.

Skills Required:
• Proficient in analyzing eligibility factors and third-party payor requirements.
• Strong interviewing skills to assist individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to manage a high workload while maintaining composure and efficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey information clearly.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a hospital setting, particularly in patient access or financial counseling, is highly desirable. Certification in Medical Terminology or equivalent experience is also preferred.


Work Environment

This position is primarily on-site and involves continuous interaction with patients and healthcare professionals. The role requires the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
