Job Summary

The Sacramento Native American Health Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Access Representative to join our team. As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive timely and accurate information about their insurance eligibility and benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify Patient Insurance Eligibility: Utilize electronic health records software and individual payer websites to obtain eligibility and pre-authorization information for next-day appointments.
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service: Answer incoming calls and/or see patients in a face-to-face setting for new patient registration, providing clear and professional support to patients regarding Medi-Cal, Medicare, and their managed care systems.
  • Collaborate with Certified Enrollment Counselors: Refer patients to on-site Certified Enrollment Counselors for enrollment and re-enrollment of Medicaid, Affordable Care Act (ACA), and other state and federal programs.
  • Ensure Accurate Data Entry: Responsible for ensuring all information entered into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) is accurate and complete, reviewing and verifying any paper documents to ensure all forms are completed, identified, signed, and corrected.
  • Comply with Regulations: Compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to the position, including HIPAA, sexual harassment, Scope of Practice, OSHA, etc.
Requirements
  • 1+ Year of Experience: Must have 1+ year(s) of knowledge and experience working in a clinical front office setting.
  • Knowledge of Insurance Programs: Knowledge and/or familiarity of Medicare; Medi-Cal; Presumptive Eligibility; local Geographic Managed Care Plans (GMC); state/federal funded programs for health care enrollment; Sliding Scale.
  • Electronic Health Records Software: Experience with electronic health records software; NextGen preferred.
  • Care and Compassion: Care and compassion in working with low-income and indigent populations; skill in working with people of varied social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds.
