Job Summary

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Petroleum Licensing Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Earth Resources Regulator, you will be responsible for delivering our work program for petroleum tenement administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Planning
    • Assess tenement applications under relevant legislation, ensuring compliance with client service standards.
    • Plan and deliver the Earth Resources Regulator's work program for petroleum tenements, driving a positive and high-performance team culture.
  • Regulatory Advice and Guidance
    • Provide high-level advice on petroleum regulation issues to the Minister and delegates, including recommendations on complex and novel tenement administration matters.
  • Operational Procedures and Governance
    • Manage the development and finalization of standard operational procedures for the regulation of petroleum tenement administration activities.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • A law degree with experience in administrative law is highly desirable.
    • Previous experience working in a regulatory context within a regulator is highly desirable.
  • Specialist/Technical Expertise
    • Strong knowledge of petroleum legislation and regulations.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
