Overview:

The Institutional Credit Management Risk Analysis Unit (IRAU) plays a crucial role within the Institutional Credit Management (ICM) organization. The IRAU is dedicated to providing exceptional credit risk evaluation, oversight, and credit administration, collaborating closely with ICM Risk and Banking, Capital Markets, and Advisory (BCMA) to uphold the integrity of wholesale lending practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of the creditworthiness and financial stability of complex municipal clients, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative analytical methods.
  • Prepare comprehensive Credit Analysis Reports and assign Final Obligor Risk Ratings based on independent evaluations and informed judgments regarding client due diligence and industry insights.
  • Engage in ongoing monitoring of the assigned portfolio, tracking industry developments, potential impacts on key relationships, and promptly escalating any emerging credit concerns to the appropriate team leads and partners.
  • Evaluate and provide insights on risk ratings within the sector.
  • Collaborate with relevant regional and industry stakeholders to implement credit assessment and monitoring standards for applicable portfolios.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement within ICM Risk Analysis.
  • Occasional travel may be required (less than 10%).

Skills and Competencies:

Risk & Credit Underwriting:

  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities, with a strong grasp of key financial metrics (liquidity, leverage) and the ability to identify underlying issues and trends.
  • Ability to form independent credit opinions and recognize emerging risks.
  • Advanced understanding of financial statements and relevant accounting standards.
  • Proficient in conducting industry research and identifying key risk drivers.
  • Solid knowledge of credit policies and procedures, with a proactive approach to reviewing and benchmarking against transactions.
  • Ability to identify and escalate potential risk issues in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or higher degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in credit analysis within the financial services sector.
