Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified adjunct faculty member to teach Medical Assisting courses at South Puget Sound Community College. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Medical Assisting and the ability to create engaging and effective learning experiences for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and facilitate contextualized and integrated learning experiences in Medical Assisting
  • Develop and implement authentic assessments of students' knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Teach Medical Assisting courses in accordance with college catalog and departmental guidelines
  • Apply multiple teaching and learning strategies to promote student learning
  • Support student retention efforts and direct students to campus resources
  • Contribute to the appreciation of diversity and foster a climate of multicultural understanding
Qualifications
  • Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting with current National certification as a Certified Medical Assistant and an MA-C credential from the Washington State Department of Health
  • Three years of experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant
  • Demonstrated experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working/learning environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with online education
  • Experience as a mentor, preceptor, clinical instructor, adjunct faculty, or other role of responsibility with students and/or new medical assisting graduates
