We are part of the nationally recognized Knowledge Is Power Program network, which offers free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools aimed at preparing students for success in higher education and beyond.

Since the inception of our first KIPP New Jersey school, we have expanded our network to educate over 8,135 students in grades K-12. Our vision includes growing to fifteen schools in Newark and five in Camden by 2025, providing a world-class education to more than 10,300 students.

In 2018, we extended our KIPP community to Greater Miami, establishing KIPP Miami, which currently serves over 1,000 students across four schools, with ambitious plans to reach 5,800 students by 2025. Our approach includes highly effective educators, strong family connections, extended learning time, and a culture focused on achievement, guiding our students toward college, career, and fulfilling lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all facilities are safe, operational, and compliant with state and local regulations.
  • Maintain daily cleanliness of all school-used interior and exterior spaces.
  • Utilize a work order system for preventive maintenance and compliance tasks.
  • Conduct daily inspections of buildings and grounds to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Manage lunchroom setup and cleanup during lunch periods and events.
  • Oversee special projects related to building maintenance and upkeep.
  • Schedule and execute all required inspections for facility systems.
  • Act as the first point of contact for building alarms and security issues.
  • Maintain relationships with city-wide inspectors and manage facility-related vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Previous custodial experience in a school or professional environment.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license and availability for emergency situations.
  • Experience in project planning and management.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, bend, and pull over 50 pounds as part of daily responsibilities.
