Job Summary

The Newark Museum of Art is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of our facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our visitors and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, stripping and waxing, and vacuuming of rugs and floors.
  • Set up and maintain facilities for special programs, meetings, and events.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and provide supplies to Museum and office areas as needed.
  • Identify and report maintenance problems to supervisor.
  • May be required to drive Museum vehicles and use ladders or personal hydraulic lifts to reach elevated locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years institutional cleaning/maintenance experience.
  • High school diploma or GED with prior maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn minor building maintenance and repair procedures, follow directions, and exercise care and good judgment in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Must be able to bend, reach above shoulder level, ascend/descend stairs, and move about.
  • Must be able to access and operate equipment required to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must be able to lift items with a minimum weight of fifty (50) lbs.
  • Valid NJ driver's license preferred.
