Role Summary

The Applications Engineer will be pivotal in fostering the growth of our Electric Systems division. As the primary technical consultant, you will support clients on various electric drivetrain and generation systems. Collaborating closely with customers and account managers, you will analyze customer needs, specify and design electric systems, and facilitate their implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement innovative control system solutions, including electric and hydraulic motors, pumps, sensors, and other hardware that integrate with PLCs and HMIs.
  • Configure and apply electric and hybrid electric drivetrain systems for diverse applications, including off-highway and marine sectors.
  • Develop and configure hydraulic and power generation systems that complement electric and hybrid electric drivetrain systems.
  • Ensure accurate project quotations and timelines for sales teams to present to clients.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key manufacturers to enhance product understanding and adapt offerings to meet customer needs.
  • Provide customers with time estimates for control system design, project coordination, procurement, and inventory management.
  • Deliver technical solutions for existing systems and support new projects through to start-up.
  • Organize and lead electrification training sessions for account managers and sales development teams.
  • Accompany sales and account managers on client visits, serving as the technical sales resource for electrification.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to comply with ISO 9001 standards and uphold the Quality Management System objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • Certification in PLUS+1 or PLC training from recognized manufacturers is preferred.
  • Fluid power experience and certification as a fluid power specialist are advantageous.

Experience and Skills:

  • 1-3 years of experience in power systems development using electric machines and power electronics.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering principles and processes is beneficial.
  • Experience in a customer-facing technical support role is preferred.
  • Proficiency in electronics, PLC programming, and mobile control systems is desirable.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment, managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Results-driven approach with excellent organizational skills and a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively.
