Role Summary

The Applications Engineer will be instrumental in driving the growth of our Electric Systems division. This position serves as the primary technical consultant for clients, focusing on a diverse array of electric drivetrain and generation solutions. You will collaborate closely with clients and account representatives to comprehend their needs, propose and design electric system options, and facilitate the implementation of these systems.

This role entails approximately 30-40% travel to engage with clients, oversee field projects, liaise with manufacturing partners, and work alongside sales teams. Travel will primarily be domestic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement innovative control system solutions, including electric and hydraulic motors, pumps, sensors, and related hardware interfacing with PLCs and HMIs.
  • Specify and configure electric and hybrid electric drivetrain systems for various applications, including off-highway and marine sectors.
  • Develop hydraulic and power generation systems to integrate with electric drivetrain solutions.
  • Provide accurate project quotations and timelines for sales teams to communicate to clients.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key manufacturing partners to enhance product knowledge and tailor modifications to meet client needs.
  • Offer time estimates for control system design, project coordination, procurement, and inventory management.
  • Deliver technical support for existing systems and assist with new customer projects through to start-up.
  • Conduct electrification training sessions for account managers and the sales development team.
  • Accompany sales representatives on client visits, serving as the technical resource for electrification.
  • Engage in the organization’s continuous improvement initiatives to adhere to ISO 9001 standards and fulfill quality management objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • Certification in PLC programming or PLUS+1 training from recognized manufacturers is preferred.
  • Fluid power experience and certification as a fluid power specialist are advantageous.

Experience and Skills:

  • 1-3 years of experience in power systems development using electric machines and power electronics.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering principles and processes is beneficial.
  • 1-3 years in a customer-facing technical support capacity.
  • Proficiency in electronics, PLC programming, and mobile control systems, with a preference for PLUS+1.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment, adapting quickly to shifting project priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with internal teams and external partners.
  • Results-driven with a hands-on approach, demonstrating excellent organizational skills and customer focus.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
