Job Summary

The Asset Protection Specialist position at Bass Pro Shops is responsible for maintaining and monitoring all asset protection, security, compliance, and safety-related functions within a facility. The mission of the Asset Protection team is aimed at reducing shrink, maintaining accurate inventory, maintaining compliance, and ensuring a safe and secure environment for our employees and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement training programs for all employees on shrink, safety, and security-related functions.
  • Cascade asset protection-related directives and initiatives to store leadership and other employees as required.
  • Provide exceptional customer service during times of need or when interacting with suspicious individuals.
  • Monitor vehicles and parking lots to ensure a safe and secure environment for employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Perform greeter functions at exit doors to ensure merchandise protection tools have been removed and product has been paid for when appropriate.
  • Conduct cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory and investigate potential causes of discrepancies.
  • Investigate and resolve over/short shipments between the distribution center and store.
  • Identify root causes of shrink through analyzing cycle counts, trailer audits, known loss, and vendor compliance opportunities.
  • Provide leadership with shrink visibility to cycle count initiatives, audits, or inventories on a monthly basis.
  • Encourage a strong commitment to asset protection programs with all employees and vendors.
  • Conduct known loss investigations and exception report reviews.
  • Lead investigations for criminal activity, policy violations, illicit behavior, workplace accidents, workplace violence, and instances of operational or nefarious loss.
  • Monitor criminal cases, appear in court, and testify as warranted.
  • Conduct information gathering and integrity interviews as assigned or authorized.
  • Monitor or consult on compliance conditions related to our Firearms processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Ensure all asset protection and security-related systems are maintained and working appropriately.
  • Assist other stores or perform additional duties as delegated by the Market AP Manager or Regional AP Manager.
  • Identify, follow up, and resolve security, safety, environmental, and regulatory issues proactively or as assigned by supervisor or in coordination with the GM and facility management team.
  • Conduct apprehensions for suspected shoplifting if authorized and trained according to company policy and procedures.
  • Assist Store or Distribution Center leadership by promoting safety programs to ensure a safe work environment, support safe work procedures, and participate on safety committees.
  • Monitor and maintain all physical security and merchandise protection standards within the store.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate reports in a timely manner.
  • Requires regular and prompt attendance as scheduled.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain any/all certifications/licenses required by applicable law.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
Requirements
  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Preferred Certificate(s) or License(s): National certified training program (Wicklander-Zuwalski or Reed training), Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI), Loss Prevention Certified/Qualified (LPC/LPQ), etc.
  • Experience: Three plus years of experience in security, asset protection, and safety
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated experience conducting criminal or internal or related investigations
  • Experience in using physical security systems (CCTV, EAS, etc.)
  • Experience conducting quality reviews/audits
  • Current AHA First Aid/CPR/AED certification is preferred

  • Less than 25%

  • Regularly performs computer work, walks, stands, and lifts up to 50lbs.
  • Occasionally sits.

  • Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
