Overview
The Transmission System Supervisor (TSS) is responsible for executing NERC System Operator functions. This role encompasses the authority to implement real-time strategies to maintain the stability and reliability of the Bulk Electric System. The TSS diligently monitors voltage frequency, power flow, reactive flow, tie-line flow, and the status of power equipment to ensure both internal and external grid security. The TSS plays a critical role in restoring transmission reliability following contingencies such as generation loss, load fluctuations, natural disasters, and other system emergencies. Additionally, the TSS directs dispatcher operators during all transmission restoration activities. This position requires a rotating shift schedule, including weekend and holiday duties.
Essential Qualifications
- Must successfully obtain and maintain the NERC Reliability Coordinator Certification (internal training will be provided).
- Prior experience in electric engineering or electric operations is required.
- Proficiency in using personal computers, Energy Management Systems, and related hardware/software is essential.
- Strong planning, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are necessary.
- Understanding of power plant operations and high voltage interconnected power systems, along with the ability to assess system performance and reliability.
- Knowledge of electric transmission equipment and operational protocols.
- Capability to analyze and evaluate transmission system requirements concerning system stability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to perform effectively under emergency and contingent conditions.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent education/work experience.
- Experience in Transmission System Operations is preferred.
Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
