Sentara is currently seeking a
Emergency Care Technician (ED Tech). This is a full-time position with third (night) shift hours.
Job Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Required: Clinical experience - less than 1 year
  • Completion of de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire. BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire for all new employees. New hires must also meet one of the following criteria in addition to the minimum education: 1. EMT-B with state or national certification at the time of hire OR 2. Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates OR 3. Current enrollment in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy). Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech role within the last two years will also be considered in lieu of the three criteria above.

As an Emergency Care Technician with Sentara, you will have the opportunity to work in both inpatient and outpatient Emergency Department settings. This role serves as an excellent entry point for a career in the healthcare field. Primary responsibilities include performing lab draws, conducting EKGs, and assisting nurses and physicians with patient care. You will experience exceptional teamwork, with all staff collaborating to provide the highest quality care for our patients.

Job Summary

Assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in executing care plans for emergency and minor emergency patients. Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse.

Qualifications:

High School Graduate or Equivalent (Required) Clinical experience
