About the Role:

Sentara is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant with Sentara, you will work directly with a doctor, conducting phlebotomy, clinical, and clerical duties. Your primary responsibilities will include bringing patients into rooms, taking vitals, verifying patient information, and preparing them for the doctor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting or one year experience as an EMT, Paramedic, and/or Corpsman preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred, plus experience with electronic medical records
  • Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic) required
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire

Requirements:

  • HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - Certification - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Certification - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • EMT Advanced - Certifications - National Registry Of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT)
  • EMT Basic - Certifications - National Registry Of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - Certification - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
