Part-Time, Days
Job Requirements:
- Required: High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Required: Clinical Experience - Less than 1 year
- Required: Training in de-escalation and physical intervention within 15 days of hire.
- Required: BLS certification within 90 days of hire for all new hires.

As an Emergency Care Technician with Sentara, you will have the opportunity to work in both inpatient and outpatient Emergency Department environments. This position serves as an excellent entry point to begin your career in healthcare. The primary responsibilities of this role include performing lab draws, conducting EKGs, and assisting nurses and physicians with patient care. Job Summary
Assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in executing care plans for emergency and minor emergency patients. Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse.
Training in de-escalation and physical intervention must be completed within 15 days of hire.
BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire for all new hires.
New hires must meet one of the following criteria in addition to the minimum education requirements:
1. EMT-B with state or national certification at the time of hire OR
2. Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates OR
3. Current students enrolled in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) who have completed at least one semester within the program.
Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech role within the last two years will also be considered in lieu of the three criteria above.
Qualifications:
High School Graduate or Equivalent (Required)
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)
