**About Waymo**

Waymo is a leading autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the most trusted driver. Our focus on building the Waymo Driver, the world's most experienced driver, has improved access to mobility and saved thousands of lives lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can be applied to various vehicle platforms and product use cases.

The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states. Simulation empowers Waymo software to lead millions of miles before hitting the road, allowing engineers to detect and fix issues at a faster pace - a core to our success.

We are seeking a highly skilled **Simulation Software Product Lead** to join our Vehicle and Automated Driving Realism (VADR) team. As a key member of this team, you will ensure that simulated self-driving cars mirror real-world driving, forming a keystone of our simulation fidelity. Your work will faithfully reproduce driving events and discover realistic driving behaviors in simulation.

The successful candidate will design the long-term architecture and software features to fit the product for an increasing number of internal customers. You will also design a smooth experience of how our product can fit into the Waymo eval tooling eco-system, continue to find novel ways to improve the driving realism of Waymo simulation, and improve / monitor the scalability and the reliability of the product.

You will mentor other senior engineers in the team and have hands-on experience building a popular user-facing (internal or external) product. Experience on backend knowledge such workflows, database, SQL, and production monitoring is essential. Design and coding skills in C++ or Python are required. We prefer candidates with 5+ years of experience, previous Technical Lead experience, and experience working on full stack or working with front-end engineers.
