Job Overview:

The Patient Access Coordinator plays a vital role within the Patient Access Services (PAS) team, primarily operating in a virtual environment. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional service to patients and healthcare providers through both inbound and outbound communication. The Coordinator will manage appointment scheduling, relay messages to clinic staff, and address various customer inquiries while ensuring that performance metrics are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle calls efficiently, employing standard protocols for greeting, addressing concerns, and concluding interactions.
  • Provide accurate information to meet customer needs and resolve inquiries effectively.
  • Exhibit outstanding customer service and a patient-centered approach to enhance each interaction.
  • Verify and accurately document patient demographics, insurance details, and relevant medical information.
  • Utilize electronic scheduling systems to arrange appointments, prioritizing patient health concerns as per departmental guidelines.
  • Ensure timely resolution of patient questions and issues, fostering loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Initiate service recovery processes as necessary to maintain strong patient relationships.
  • Document customer interactions and relay pertinent information to clinic staff using established messaging systems.
  • Conduct thorough interviews with patients or guardians to gather complete demographic and clinical data.
  • Maintain compliance with privacy regulations and organizational policies.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office or patient access environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to navigate multiple systems and type at least 40-45 words per minute.

Preferred:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, or a related field.
  • Experience in a contact center or customer service role.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes.
