Job Title: Associate Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Electrical Engineer to join our team at the New York Power Authority. As an Associate Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing electrical engineering support to our generating plant and transmission substations throughout the State of New York.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide electrical engineering support to all New York Power Authority generating plant and transmission substations.
  • Independently administer on-site technical support.
  • Ensure deadlines are met as assigned by supervisors.
  • Independently coordinate work with other disciplines and departments for the successful development and execution of projects.
  • Perform inspections and evaluations on vendor products to ensure engineering requirements and Authority needs are satisfied.
  • Gather information (site, vendors and other engineers) for engineering tasks.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated basic competencies in the analysis, design and integration of electrical systems specific to the field of electric power engineering.
  • Work experience involving the application of fundamental power system concepts and an introductory knowledge of power system apparatus and systems, such as switchgear, electric machines, power transformers, station batteries and conductors.
  • Basic understanding of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong understanding of power system theory.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Approximately 25% travel, primarily within NY State.
  • Willingness to enter confined spaces and climb/scale power system apparatuses is required.
