Job Summary

The New York Power Authority is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to provide electrical engineering support to its generating plant and transmission substations throughout the State of New York.

This role involves assisting senior staff and supervisors on a full range of electric utility design modification projects, equipment applications, and failure research, as well as operations and maintenance activities.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, and a good understanding of power system theory and concepts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the administration of on-site technical support
  • Ensuring deadlines are met as assigned by supervisors
  • Coordinating work with other disciplines and departments for the successful development and execution of projects
  • Gathering information for engineering tasks

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated basic competencies in the analysis, design, and integration of electrical systems
  • Fundamental knowledge of power system concepts
  • Basic understanding of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

Physical Requirements:

  • Approximately 25% travel, primarily within NY State
  • Willingness to enter confined spaces and climb/scale power system apparatuses is required
