Position Overview:
This position is responsible for originating, managing, and supervising a portfolio of commercial loans, with the primary goal of enhancing and preserving asset quality while fostering new and existing business relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
• Accepts applications for commercial and agricultural loan services. Evaluates the financial status of clients by reviewing credit reports and necessary documentation to determine their repayment capacity. Provides underwriting recommendations to senior management. Completes or oversees the completion of all loan documentation and finalizes loan agreements.
• Engages in the development of lending and deposit business for the bank. Actively seeks to expand existing client relationships and pursues new prospects to grow the bank's clientele.
• Oversees the existing loan portfolio to ensure a high-quality asset base. Maintains current client files, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow forecasts, and all loan documentation.
• Collects standard bank fees associated with all loans.
• Aids in the collection of overdue loans.
• Provides assistance to clients regarding any inquiries or concerns related to loans.
• Independently manages intermediate to moderately complex commercial loan credit underwriting and structures.
• Achieves assigned loan volume targets as established by management.
• Ensures the maintenance of asset quality within the loan portfolio.
• Maintains an acceptable delinquency rate for the loan portfolio as defined by management and bank policies.
• Collects standard fee income on portfolio loans and fees on sold loans.
• Ensures that charge-off and delinquency rates remain within acceptable limits as set by management and bank policies.
• Ensures that lending operations comply with established bank policies and legal requirements.
• Promotes a professional, courteous, and welcoming environment for clients and colleagues.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Five to seven years of experience in credit underwriting, lending, business development, and sales.
- A college degree in finance, accounting, banking, or equivalent experience in the banking sector.
- Completion of the first level of Advanced Commercial Lending School, Graduate Banking School, or Certified Community Lender Certification.
- Ability to motivate and influence others, requiring a high level of diplomacy and trust.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in evaluating business financial statements and assessing business viability.
- Excellent communication and public relations skills.
- Proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel) and capable of learning and using related lending software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
- Willingness to engage in civic and professional associations.
- Demonstrated intermediate-level sales skills for developing new business relationships.
