Position Summary

ValidaTek is in search of a Telecommunications Cabling Specialist to support a comprehensive telecommunications and networking framework within a secured DoD environment. This position will emphasize the installation, upkeep, and repair of fiber optic and cabling systems to guarantee optimal connectivity and performance. The Telecommunications Cabling Specialist will comply with all relevant regulations and guidelines, concentrating on the application of best practices and safety measures. This role will involve conducting routine maintenance inspections and emergency repairs as required, along with ensuring meticulous documentation of all installations and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic and cabling systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks and emergency repairs.
- Document all installations and repairs accurately.
- Adhere to safety standards and best practices.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must possess the following:
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant telecommunications experience as a Cable Technician in a DoD IT setting.
  • Familiarity with BICSI rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Proficiency in utilizing network cabling testing equipment, including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs, and fiber power meters.
  • Experience in analyzing, managing, and maintaining a telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure.
  • Skills in dressing, terminating, and testing cables and components, with the ability to operate power tools and ladders.
  • Experience in testing, locating, installing, and repairing cabling infrastructure related to trouble calls and performing routine maintenance.
  • Experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing voice and data communication systems.
  • Ability to identify, track, and remove abandoned cables while ensuring cables are neatly organized and bundled, adhering to safety standards.
  • Relevant certifications for Fiber Optic Cable and CAT6 Cable Installation.
  • Strong customer support and communication skills with leadership and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • All candidates must hold BISCI Installer (Copper and/or Fiber) certification.
  • All candidates must possess an active secret clearance.
  • A bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience.
Salary Information

- Minimum Pay Rate: USD $38,934.00/Yr.
- Maximum Pay Rate: USD $64,890.00/Yr.

Salary Disclosure

The actual salary will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, geographic location, contract affordability, internal equity, education, and certifications. The upper end of the salary range may be allocated for individuals demonstrating tenure with the company, seniority, and proven exceptional performance, taking into account factors such as education, certifications, and extensive or unique experience beyond the requirements.
