Position Overview

This pivotal executive role reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer and the President of ProMedica Physician's Group (PPG). The individual will hold primary accountability for overseeing pharmacy operations, including retail and specialty services, clinical modeling, and procurement processes, while also maintaining indirect oversight of pharmacy technology.


Key Responsibilities

The VP, Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO) will spearhead the strategic planning, development, execution, and administrative management of pharmacy programs and services throughout ProMedica. This role will also be responsible for:

  • Leading fiscal management of pharmacy operations, including drug utilization and supply chain management.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership to identify and capitalize on new pharmacy opportunities aligned with ProMedica's strategic objectives.
  • Implementing operational practices and clinical care models to ensure high standards of quality, safety, service, compliance, and financial performance.


Accountabilities

Ensure the seamless integration and standardization of pharmacy services across the organization to achieve operational excellence and financial success. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership and oversight for all pharmacy operations and patient care services.
  • Establishing a strategic plan for the pharmacy enterprise, developing tactical initiatives, and measuring progress toward goals.
  • Communicating pharmacy strategies and outcomes to leadership and the pharmacy team.
  • Managing operating and capital budgets in collaboration with the Finance department.
  • Developing a robust pharmacy workforce to ensure the efficient delivery of patient care.
  • Setting high service standards across the pharmacy service line.


Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy; Master's degree in a health-related field or business administration.

Experience:
Minimum of 10 years in progressively responsible senior pharmacy leadership roles within a health system. Proven track record in strategy development and implementation, along with a strong ability to mentor and elevate team performance. Eligibility to practice as a pharmacist in Michigan or Ohio is required.

Skills:
Demonstrated leadership in driving transformational change through collaboration with diverse stakeholders. Strong strategic and business acumen, particularly in pharmacy practice, along with financial management skills. Proven success in enhancing efficiency, quality, safety, and service levels in complex environments. Extensive knowledge of medication safety and contemporary pharmacy practices. Ability to create and communicate a strategic vision for pharmacy services, recruit and retain top talent, and foster effective partnerships across the organization.


Preferred Qualifications

Education:
Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Experience:
Completion of residency training in health system pharmacy administration. Eligibility to practice as a pharmacist in both Michigan and Ohio.
