Responsibilities

The Renal Biopsy Laboratory at Mayo Clinic is a dynamic and collaborative team that plays a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases. As a Histology Technician, you will be responsible for preparing microscopic slide preparations, performing technical procedures, and participating in on-call rotations. Your attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will be essential in delivering high-quality results and contributing to the success of our team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing specimens and performing technical procedures to create microscopic slide preparations
  • Participating in on-call rotations, including weekends as needed
  • Collaborating with other laboratory staff to ensure efficient and accurate testing
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies in histology and laboratory medicine
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate degree in a related field, such as medical laboratory technology or histology
  • Coursework in chemistry, biology, and medical laboratory technology
  • Certification as a Histology Technician (HT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
