Surgical Care Specialist

Job Summary

The APP will focus on the surgical treatment of patients, splitting time between inpatient and outpatient settings. As a bedside operative assistant, the APP will work under the guidance of Urologists performing robotic, laparoscopic, and open surgery. Additionally, the APP may utilize advanced practice skills to help with perioperative, inpatient, and emergency department management of the Urology service.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Serve as a bedside operative assistant under the guidance of a Urologist
  • Collaborate with resident physicians to assist with perioperative, inpatient, and emergency department care of urological patients
  • See patients in clinic 1-3 days/week as necessary
  • Provide assistance as needed to all Urology attending physicians
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of ARC accredited Physician Assistant program or MSN or DNP accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Certification: PA-C or NP certification to care for adults, plus RNFA certification
  • License: Current and unrestricted license issued by NCMB or NCBON
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Able to clearly articulate scope of practice and practice within those guidelines
  • Able to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively to solve complex problems
  • Able to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership, and others
