Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary or secondary scrub under the direct oversight of the perioperative Registered Nurse.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by proactively identifying the need for surgical instruments and materials.
  • Prepare necessary equipment and supplies ahead of each surgical operation.
  • Accurately collect pathology specimens and maintain documentation in accordance with facility guidelines.
  • Ensure adherence to sterile techniques throughout all procedures.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use and sterilization of surgical instruments.
  • Lead the orientation and training of new personnel and students, as needed.
  • Maintain and clean surgical equipment while following appropriate safety protocols.
  • Inspect operating rooms for cleanliness and equipment functionality; ensure rooms are stocked with sufficient supplies.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technician is mandatory.
  • A minimum of two years of prior experience as a surgical technician is preferred.
  • Understanding of fundamental surgical technology principles and practices.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, squat, pull, push, and lift over 50 pounds.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to effectively engage and communicate with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
