Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a first or second scrub under the direct oversight of the perioperative RN.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by proactively identifying the need for surgical instruments and supplies.
- Prepare and organize necessary equipment and supplies ahead of each surgical case.
- Accurately collect pathology specimens and maintain documentation in accordance with facility policies.
- Adhere to and uphold sterile techniques throughout all procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge in the usage and sterilization of surgical instruments.
- Lead the orientation and training of new personnel and students, as directed.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of surgical equipment while following appropriate safety protocols.
- Inspect operating rooms for cleanliness and equipment readiness; ensure rooms are stocked with necessary supplies.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technician is mandatory.
- Preferred: Two years of prior experience as a surgical technician.
- Understanding of fundamental surgical technology principles and protocols.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, sit, squat, pull, push, and lift over 50 pounds.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively engage and communicate with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
