Job Summary:

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Protection Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical protection systems for our transmission and distribution facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop protection system schematic designs and conduct short circuit and symmetrical component analysis
  • Perform protection system coordination studies and develop relay settings and protection system automation logic
  • Conduct arc flash analysis and manage integration with SCADA systems
  • Develop complex electrical engineering studies, plans, and detailed scopes of work
  • Provide peer review as part of the defined QA/QC process for internal and external engineering design, settings, and studies
  • Guide and direct level I and II engineers, technicians, and drafters
  • Deliver on commitments to accomplish assigned work and comply with NERC, FERC, and WECC regulations
  • Occasional travel for project work and training

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an ABET-accredited university
  • A minimum of five years directly applicable engineering experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty
  • Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments
  • Understanding of company's business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices
  • Knowledge and application of engineering principles in the area of substations design, power system protection, and/or power system analysis
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers, including automated tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering License (PE)
  • Power systems-focused Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or Master's of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (MEngEE)
  • Proficiency in substation design
  • Proficiency in power system protection
  • Experience with Aspen-OneLiner and Doble-PowerBase software
