Senior Electrical Protection Engineer

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Protection Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing protection system designs, conducting short-circuit and symmetrical component analysis, and performing protection system coordination studies. Your expertise in electrical engineering and protection systems will be essential in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our transmission and distribution facilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop protection system schematic designs and specifications
• Conduct short-circuit and symmetrical component analysis to ensure system reliability and safety
• Perform protection system coordination studies to ensure proper system operation
• Develop relay settings and protection system automation logic to optimize system performance
• Conduct arc flash analysis to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies
• Manage integration with SCADA systems to ensure seamless system operation
• Develop complex electrical engineering studies, plans, and detailed scopes of work to support system design and implementation
• Provide peer review and guidance to junior engineers to ensure high-quality work products
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an ABET-accredited university
• Minimum of five years of directly applicable engineering experience
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in electrical engineering and protection systems
• Strong project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member and maintain project timelines and budgets
• Understanding of company policies, procedures, and practices
• Knowledge and application of engineering principles in the area of substations design, power system protection, and/or power system analysis
• Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations
• Proficient with the use of personal computers, including automated tools
Preferred Qualifications
• Professional Engineering License (PE)
• Power systems-focused Master's degree in electrical engineering or Master's degree in engineering
• Proficiency in substation design and power system protection
• Experience with Aspen-OneLiner and Doble-PowerBase software

PacifiCorp offers a competitive salary range of $100,700-$118,400, as well as an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15.00% of salary.
