Electrical Engineer

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team in Portland, OR or Salt Lake City, UT. As a Protection Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing protection system designs, conducting short-circuit and symmetrical component analysis, and performing protection system coordination studies.
Key Responsibilities- Develop protection system schematic designs
- Conduct short-circuit and symmetrical component analysis
- Perform protection system coordination studies
- Develop relay settings and protection system automation logic
- Conduct arc flash analysis
- Manage integration with SCADA systems
- Develop complex electrical engineering studies, plans, and protection system criteria
- Provide peer review as part of the defined QA/QC process for internal and external engineering design, settings, and studies
- Guide and direct level I and II engineers, technicians, and drafters
- Deliver on commitments to accomplish assigned work
- Comply with NERC, FERC, and WECC regulations
- Occasional travel for project work and training
- Analyze and design engineering methods
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an ABET-accredited university
- A minimum of five years directly applicable engineering experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty
- Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments
- Understanding of company's business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices
- Knowledge and application of engineering principles in the area of substations design, power system protection, and/or power system analysis
- Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations
- Proficient with the use of personal computers, including automated tools
- Professional Engineering License (PE)
- Power systems-focused Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or Master's of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (MEngEE)
- Proficiency in substation design
- Proficiency in power system protection
This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15.00% of salary. Benefits include health care, retirement, paid time off, tuition assistance, paid short-term and long-term disability, paid bereavement leave.
