About the Job

The Deputy Chief of Staff - John Cochran Division (DCOS-JC) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the achievement of the Health Care System's clinical, research, and educational goals. This position is open to the public and is an excellent opportunity for a skilled physician to lead and contribute to the success of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in Executive Team activities and Strategic Planning of the Facility.
  • Lead the medical center's Inpatient Flow Improvement, Systems Redesign, and Quality Improvement/Patient Safety initiatives.
  • Prepare for and implement the Cerner EMR system.
  • Assist in coordination of the Health Professions Education Programs as required.
  • Coordinate the work of the services under their direct supervision and collaborate with those services reporting to the Nurse Executive, Deputy Director, and Associate Director to implement key VA Central Office, Network, and Medical Center organizational strategies.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Experience

Possesses more than one (1) year of Management/Leadership experience within a complex medical facility.
