Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced physician leader to serve as the Division Chief of Gynecologic Oncology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the administrative, financial, research, and clinical operations of the Division, while also developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy for the growth and development of the Division's clinical, educational, and research activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the administrative, financial, research, and clinical operations of the Division

  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and manage academic faculty and staff across the clinical, research, and education missions
  • Foster an environment of collaboration with partner hospitals and execute the goals for the Women's and Infants and Siteman Cancer Center programs
  • Participate in the comprehensive care for gynecologic cancers

About the Division

The Division of Gynecologic Oncology comprises 10 faculty members and four fellows, and performs over 1,500 surgical procedures per year with 1,300 chemotherapy admissions. The Division's care team includes oncology nurses, nurse practitioners, and a board-certified genetic counselor. A new state-of-the-art operating facility was opened in 2018, providing new academic and clinical office space.

Clinical Services and Locations

The Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine offers a broad scope of clinical opportunities, including advanced robotic and laparoscopic surgery, full-spectrum care, chemotherapy administration, access to clinical trials, and medical student, resident, and fellow education. We practice multidisciplinary cancer care and aim for personalized precision medicine by collaborating with faculty experts in radiation oncology, medical oncology, palliative care, and urogynecology.

Preferred Qualifications

We seek candidates with a track record of outstanding patient care, collaborative leadership, program growth, educational excellence, and faculty recruitment. A background in individual scholarship is preferred but not required. Qualified candidates will be cognizant of national trends and best practices in the specialty and have demonstrated a solid commitment to medical education and dedication to promoting scholarship and research opportunities for students, residents, fellows, and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should be adept at caring for patients with complex gynecologic malignancies and serve as a resource for the department and community physicians. Strong interpersonal skills and an interest in cancer/surgical research are desirable. The successful candidate will be an innovative leader with experience navigating complex academic institutions, health centers, and/or teaching hospitals, clinical program expansion, and administrative experience.

Qualified candidates must hold board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology with an MD, DO, MD/PhD or equivalent degree and be board certified in Gynecologic Oncology. Applicants must hold or be qualified to obtain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Missouri and be eligible for appointment as Associate Professor or above.
