Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Finance and Accounting Coordinator to join our team at Brunswick Regional Water & Sewer H2GO. This role will play a critical part in managing the financial operations of the organization, with a primary focus on accounts payable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, verification, and payment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors and suppliers.
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain vendor records and communicate with vendors regarding payment status and inquiries.
  • Monitor and track expenditures against budgeted amounts for departments, projects, and grants.
  • Crosstrain to serve as the backup for payroll processing.
  • Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
  • Support the Deputy Finance Director in analyzing financial data and trends.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and organizational policies.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Assist with special projects such as accounts payable automation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles.
  • Experience in municipal government or public sector finance is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in accounting software and financial management systems.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and purchasing procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
Physical and Cognitive Demands

This role requires the frequent exertion of up to 15 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, standing, walking and reaching; work has standard vision requirements; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location.
