Position Title: Senior Financial Analyst at SMX Corporation

Location: United States


SMX Corporation is in search of a Senior Financial Analyst who will autonomously provide services to clients by showcasing extensive financial expertise within our organization.

This role involves overseeing and managing the financial operations of a Task Order under a significant contract, being accountable for all financial activities associated with that Task Order.

As a key member of the program management team, the analyst will collaborate with the Senior Financial Analyst and the Program Manager to achieve the overarching contract objectives.

They will interact with the Task Order Project Manager, senior technical personnel, and various functional departments including Contracts, Subcontracts, Finance, Accounts Receivable, and Procurement.

The analyst will supervise and guide the work of Junior Financial Analysts supporting their Task Order, although they will not act as career managers.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the financial management of multiple intricate Task Orders by delivering cost, schedule, and funding planning, reporting, monitoring, and analytical support to the Program Manager.

This includes the creation of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Basis of Estimates (BOEs), and the formulation of time-phased budgets and schedules.
Lead the setup of Task Orders in accordance with contractual stipulations and requirements.
Generate financial Estimates at Complete (EAC) for Task Orders and adhere to submission deadlines.

Identify risks and opportunities for profit enhancement within Task Orders and provide analytical support in resolving financial issues alongside the Program Manager, Contracts, Procurement, and Finance/Accounting.

Monitor Task Order and labor costs weekly to ensure actuals remain within budget and are allocated to the correct job number.

Process any necessary cost transfers.
Verify the accuracy of cost reporting documentation through analytical reviews and arithmetic checks of Task Orders.
Prepare comprehensive and precise variance analysis and reporting for Task Orders.

Track the funding status of Task Orders (including subcontractor funding), ensuring timely and reliable notifications of funding status by line-item detail as required.

Assist accounts receivable during billing processes (e.g., review Task Order edit files to confirm that billable costs are accurate and permissible against the Task Order).

Prepare subcontractor accruals as services or goods are received, in line with GAAP and internal policies, to ensure accurate reporting of Task Order costs and commitments.

Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses on Task Orders as requested by the Program Management Office and other stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley, FAR, and all company policies and procedures related to Task Order performance and financials.

May take on career management responsibilities for direct reports.

If acting as a career manager, responsibilities may include timesheet approval/review, providing constructive feedback on performance, preparing annual assessments, and fostering the development of their team’s skillsets.

Ability to cultivate relationships across functional teams and internal business partners.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrate strong data management, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
Exhibit exceptional organizational skills.

Required Qualifications:

Clearance Requirement:
Must be eligible to obtain a clearance if required by the program.
Familiarity with all contract types (CP, T&M, FFP).

A minimum of 10 years of experience in project cost control, financial management, and contract interpretation, including budget development, financial data analysis, and reconciliation of estimates versus actuals.

Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and manage a high volume of work.
Experience and knowledge of Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) rules and guidelines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint.
Ability to collect and analyze data from various sources, identifying, researching, and resolving financial issues and program risks.
Manage and direct work assignments of junior staff while prioritizing workload in a dynamic environment.
A BA or BS degree is preferred.
US citizenship is required for work under DOD contracts.
