Position Overview:

The Behavioral Support Specialist plays a crucial role in implementing behavioral and treatment objectives for children with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Operates under the guidance of the Lead Behavior Technician, collaborating with the Supporting Behavior Technician.
  • Assists in executing daily tasks and activities aligned with lesson plans and treatment goals.
  • Observes and aids in the application of student treatment plans and group instructional activities.
  • Ensures timely and appropriate completion of assigned tasks and activities.
  • Organizes and prepares materials as necessary.
  • Helps in monitoring and interpreting child activities.
  • Contributes to data collection, analysis, and reporting of child progress.
  • Applies knowledge of each child's learning and developmental objectives.
  • Participates in team meetings and provides updates to Lead and Supporting Behavior Technicians.
  • Engages in mentoring newly hired behavior technicians.
  • Maintains compliance with insurance requirements, ethical standards, and relevant policies.
  • Ensures a clean, safe, and engaging therapy environment.
  • Monitors children for signs of abuse and reports any concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Attends required meetings, events, and training sessions.
  • Maintains a solid understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis principles.
  • Exhibits integrity, responsibility, and teamwork in all interactions.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED;
  • At least 6 months of experience in a structured classroom environment;
  • At least 6 months of experience working with preschool-aged children with autism or developmental disabilities; or
  • A combination of education and relevant experience.
