Employee Health and Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Health and Safety Specialist II to join our team at Hussmann. As a key member of our EHS team, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of EHS standards and requirements across our facilities in the Salem, NH/NE district.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate all EHS-related activities within assigned facilities to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Conduct regular EHS inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Develop and maintain local EHS programs, including training and awareness initiatives.
- Liaise with local authorities and external bodies to ensure compliance with EHS regulations.
- Provide EHS consultation and support to all departments within the district.
- Recognize and address acute hazards, recommending or implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Assist with multiple projects, including cross-functional teams, to drive EHS excellence.
- Coordinate and conduct EHS-related training programs.
- Participate in incident investigations and emergency responses at district locations.
- Manage administrative responsibilities, including data entry, Workers' Compensation, and KPI tracking.
- Analyze EHS performance data and communicate trends to stakeholders.
- Oversee a fleet of approximately 170 vehicles, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
- Working knowledge of mechanical engineering and commercial refrigeration.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Physical capability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Self-starter with ability to operate under general instructions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge and experience implementing ISO14001 and OHS management systems.
- Excellent computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent years of experience. 5+ years with degree, 7+ years of experience without a degree. Must have EHS work experience in construction.
