Position Overview:
This role focuses on fostering collaborations with both private and public sector partners through the Energy Resource Center to secure funding for research initiatives and execute various research projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaboratively brainstorm and develop innovative energy and environmental research concepts, transforming them into viable projects.
  2. Engage in the planning, development, and execution of projects related to energy efficiency, energy utilization, energy transformation, energy storage, and emission reduction.
  3. Identify underserved markets and potential consumers requiring technical education or assistance in energy-related issues.
  4. Establish and nurture relationships with organizations to enhance energy efficiency and reduce emissions across industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors.
  5. Conduct energy assessments and provide on-site consultations, pinpointing opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
  6. Utilize advanced engineering principles to address specific energy and environmental research tasks, including analysis, technical documentation, and independent research.
  7. Collect and interpret data, presenting findings to clients in both verbal and written formats.
  8. Lead energy projects by creating project plans, defining project scopes, setting timelines, calculating costs, executing project tasks, and delivering results within budget and on schedule.
  9. Prepare technical documentation for proposals, report research findings, and compile project deliverables.
  10. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams as an energy expert, contributing technical insights and writing skills to develop new programs that incorporate energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.
  11. Conduct independent and collaborative research under the mentorship of senior engineering personnel.

Staff Development:
Mentor student engineers in energy efficiency technologies, instrumentation usage, and field assessment methodologies. Supervise and guide student engineers in data collection and analysis tasks. Review and finalize project outputs produced by student engineers.

Additional Responsibilities:
Engage in other related duties and participate in special projects as required.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Strong communication and technical writing abilities.
  • Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in team settings.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiar with energy software tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience in modeling combined heat and power systems.
