Position Overview:

This role focuses on establishing collaborations with both private and public sector partners through the Energy Resource Center to secure funding for research initiatives and successfully execute research projects.

The incumbent will utilize energy evaluations and comprehensive technical/financial analyses to identify actionable solutions to energy and environmental challenges across various sectors including industrial, commercial, institutional, and residential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaboratively generate and refine energy and environmental research concepts, transforming them into viable funding proposals.
  • Engage in the planning, development, and execution of projects related to energy efficiency, energy utilization, energy transformation, energy storage, and emission reduction.
  • Identify underrepresented markets and potential consumers requiring technical education or assistance regarding energy issues.
  • Build and maintain relationships with organizations to enhance energy efficiency and reduce emissions in industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors.
  • Conduct energy evaluations and provide on-site consultations, pinpointing opportunities for improved efficiency and reduced energy expenses.
  • Apply advanced engineering methodologies to specific energy and environmental research tasks, including analysis, technical documentation, and independent research.
  • Collect and interpret data, presenting findings to clients both verbally and in written form.
  • Lead energy initiatives by formulating project plans, defining project scopes, establishing timelines, calculating project costs, executing project tasks, assessing energy savings, and delivering outcomes punctually and within budget.
  • Draft technical components for proposals, document research findings, and prepare reports and project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams as an energy expert, contributing technical insights and writing skills to foster new programs that incorporate energy efficiency and environmental stewardship principles.
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research under the mentorship of senior engineering personnel.
Staff Development:

Mentor student engineers in energy efficiency technologies, energy instrumentation, and field assessment techniques. Supervise and guide student engineers in data collection and analysis tasks. Review, edit, and finalize project outputs produced by student engineers.

Perform additional related duties and engage in special projects as required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline is essential.
Strong communication and technical writing abilities. Capability to work autonomously as well as in collaborative environments.
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiar with energy software tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of experience in modeling combined heat and power systems.
