We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for supporting the Executive Chef in the preparation and design of our restaurant menus, ensuring that our kitchen operates efficiently and meets the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Produce high-quality sauces, stocks, and food items that require advance preparation, including seasonal vegetables and meat and seafood fabrication and cookery.
- Ensure the kitchen is properly set up and cleaned each day, and that inventory is accurately managed.
- Confer with the Executive Chef to ensure that all kitchen tools and foodstuffs are prepared for evening service.
- Support supervisory duties, including training, developing, evaluating, and disciplinary counseling of on-site employees.
- Ensure staff uphold leadership behaviors, core values, and adhere to strategic and operational priorities.
- Attend management meetings and participate in training seminars as requested.
- 3 years of culinary experience, including a full understanding of culinary techniques.
- Excellent knife skills and knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Ability to manage and supervise multiple teams, train and teach, and possess good organizational skills.
- Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions.
- Familiarity with industry best practices and working knowledge of computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS).
- Serve Safe Certified preferred.
- Weekend, evening, or holiday work required to support the Garden.
- Occasional sitting, walking, and standing for long periods, with occasional bending, lifting, or climbing.
- Occasional lifting of moderate weights (up to 50 pounds) and occasional lifting of heavy weights (50 pounds or greater).
