We are currently seeking an Oncology Veterinary Technician to enhance our team.
Position Overview:
This role is primarily scheduled for Monday through Thursday from 7 AM to 5 PM, with potential adjustments based on hospital and departmental needs. Compensation for this position ranges from $22 to $32 per hour, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Oncologist in delivering precise and effective patient care.
- Ensure smooth patient flow and conduct various procedures, including radiographs, laboratory work, and chemotherapy administration.
- Engage in compassionate communication with clients through in-person interactions, phone calls, and electronic correspondence.
- Maintain thorough and accurate medical documentation in the hospital's PIMS and Whiteboard systems.
- Facilitate the doctor's schedule to align with patient care needs.
- Collect patient history and manage medication refills efficiently.
- Provide an excellent client experience through effective communication and schedule management.
- Perform laboratory work, radiographs, and sample submissions.
- Monitor general anesthesia and sedation during procedures.
- Handle chemotherapy medications according to hospital standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in IV catheter placement and venipuncture.
- Administer chemotherapy treatments as directed by the Oncologist.
- Maintain hospital cleanliness through general cleaning duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent; at least 1 year of Veterinary Technician experience; Colorado Registered Veterinary Technician or the ability to obtain registration upon hire.
- Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience in a Specialty Hospital; experience with anesthesia management.
This position is physically demanding, requiring frequent bending and the ability to lift and restrain animals weighing over 50 pounds.
