Lighthouse Professional Services, a leading staffing agency, is seeking a skilled Rail Car Technician to join our team in New Haven, CT.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to perform mechanical repairs, testing, and troubleshooting on rail cars. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical schematics and be able to troubleshoot misfires. Additionally, they will be responsible for assembling wire harnesses, terminating wire ends, and performing soldering to make wire connections.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and test rail cars to identify mechanical issues
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on rail cars, including metal finishing and setting up work according to drawings and instructions
  • Build and use production aids, such as templates and hand jigs, to assist with work
  • Assemble wire harnesses and terminate wire ends
  • Route cables or wire in complex areas, such as cabs, electric lockers, or train line boxes
  • Perform soldering to make wire connections

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of electrical schematics and ability to troubleshoot misfires
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with electrical wiring
  • Ability to work outdoors and indoors, with flexibility in schedules
