Position Overview

The Extrusion Machine Technician is tasked with the efficient operation of the extrusion machinery during assigned shifts. Reporting directly to the shift supervisor, this role is pivotal in managing daily activities related to the extrusion process, ensuring optimal production outcomes and adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the initiation and shutdown of the extrusion line.
  • Modify machine settings as necessary in collaboration with the shift supervisor, ensuring compliance with process specifications.
  • Prepare and set up extrusion machinery by loading raw materials and adjusting equipment settings according to product requirements.
  • Conduct timely quality assessments of the produced HDPC products.
  • Verify that the extrusion line is supplied with the correct raw materials.
  • Document production outputs accurately in the system.
  • Calibrate and test machinery at the start of each shift to maintain proper operational parameters such as pressure, speed, and temperature.
  • Perform visual inspections, weighing, and measuring of components produced to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve any operational challenges that may arise.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues regarding equipment issues and address them promptly.
  • Utilize appropriate cleaning solutions and tools to maintain equipment cleanliness on a scheduled basis.
  • Carry out necessary repairs and replace any defective or worn components of the machinery.
  • Select and install necessary parts, including cutters and molds, to ensure machines operate at peak efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated responsibility and accountability in previous roles.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proven experience as an Extrusion Machine Operator or in a similar manufacturing position.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures relevant to machine operation and manufacturing settings.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and quick troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective collaboration skills to work with team members and supervisors.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and bending throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
