Description
The Extrusion (Flooring) Operator is responsible for shift wise operation of the extrusion machine reporting to shift leader to organize the daily activities on the extrusion machine and is responsible for production results and optimum operation of the extrusion process. The operator checks the quality of the HDPC product and adjusts the settings as needed.
Requirements
Major Function and Scope
- Assist on starting up and shutting down of the line.
- Adjust setting if needed in communication with shift leader and within process specification.
- Set up and prepare extrusion machinery for operation by loading raw materials and adjusting equipment settings based on product specifications
- Performs time sensitive quality checks.
- Ensure the extrusion line has correct raw materials.
- Accounts in system the produced products.
- Adjust, calibrate, and test equipment at the beginning of every shift to ensure proper pressure, speed, temperature, and general operation.
- Examine visually, weigh and measure components created from equipment at the end of the week to ensure machines are
- producing according to company and industry regulations and standards, adjusting as needed.
- Work with team members, shift supervisors and all necessary personnel to take care of complications as they arise.
- Communicate with fellow team members to learn of any equipment problems or malfunctions and take care of them as they come up.
- Use regulated cleaning solutions, grease guns, oil cans, air hoses and cleaning cloths to properly maintain and clean equipment on a bimonthly basis.
- Make repairs to equipment when necessary, and replace all defective, broken or worn-out components.
- Choose and install cutters, molds, and all other necessary equipment parts so machines are always operating at peak efficiency.
- Responsible for order and cleanliness.
- Follow safety guidelines.
- Proven experience as an Extrusion Machine Operator or in a related manufacturing role
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be responsible and accountable.
- Is a good communicator.
- Is a team player.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures related to machine operation and manufacturing environments
- Detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality output in a timely and efficient manner
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and address operational issues quickly
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with other team members and supervisors
In the Wellmade organization, all team members must be flexible and willing to undertake a wide range of activities during daily business, including some which may not normally be part of the job description for an equivalent position elsewhere. It is therefore a requirement that the individual filling this position has an aptitude to learn new skills, to think for him/herself, and be able to work in an environment where fixed routines may not be established.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
- Standing, Walking, Bending required most of the shift.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.

PM, Rotating 12 Hour Shifts
