Description
Under the guidance of the Butler Medical Transport/Best Care Ambulance Leadership team, the Event Medical Response Specialist plays a crucial role within the EMS team, delivering medical assistance during both urgent and non-urgent transports.
This position involves evaluating patients' health conditions, administering advanced life support, and facilitating patient transfers to healthcare facilities during scheduled events. Paramedics are vital to the healthcare framework, providing essential care in emergencies and significantly influencing patients' well-being. The role necessitates outstanding leadership capabilities, advanced training, and education, as well as the ability to think quickly, show compassion, and collaborate effectively with a team to ensure timely and efficient pre-hospital care.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver exceptional patient care within the Paramedic's scope of practice.
- Offer leadership and mentorship to EMT and AEMT team members.
- Respond to both urgent and non-urgent transport requests.
- Communicate effectively with patients, dispatch, crew members, family, and facility personnel.
- Operate communication devices, including portable radios, cell phones, and tablet computers.
- Complete patient contact reports before the end of each shift.
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained for readiness in transport.
- Keep the station clean and organized.
- Maintain certifications through timely completion of refresher courses and continuing medical education (CMEs).
- Stay updated on all state protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Represent Butler Medical Transport/Best Care Ambulance at community events as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 19 at the time of hire for insurance purposes.
- Successful completion of National Registry Paramedic certification.
- Current National Registry Paramedic and State Paramedic certifications (or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire).
- Current AHA BLS CPR certification or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire.
- Current AHA ACLS CPR certification or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire.
- Current AHA PALS CPR certification or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire.
- Familiarity with pumps, ventilators, and monitors used in EMS care.
- Capability to provide quality patient care within the established scope of practice.
- Knowledge of all state protocols applicable to Paramedics.
- Willingness to participate in at least one standby event every four months.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate company vehicles safely.
- Successful completion of a state-sponsored EVOC course or ability to obtain within 90 days.
- Ability to pass a physical lift test.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background investigation.
- Proficiency in speaking and writing English.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience in leadership roles.

- Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in writing patient care reports.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
- Previous experience in EMS.
Salary Description
$40 per hour
