Job Overview

Role Summary:

The Patient Access Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the Patient Access Supervisors by managing the daily functions of their assigned area. As the primary contact for both employees and patients, this position provides essential leadership and direction to staff, facilitating effective problem resolution. The Coordinator ensures that team members are adequately trained and adhere to the standards of their respective roles. Additionally, they serve as a backup during peak periods and for staff absences. It is crucial for all leads to maintain a professional demeanor and to know when to escalate issues to the leadership team through the proper channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the supervisor in managing daily operations by reviewing staff performance through reports and dashboards, making necessary adjustments to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Support staff during busy periods to guarantee that all responsibilities are fulfilled promptly.
  • Act as a backup for unexpected absences and scheduled time off.
  • Provide training for all new employees within the department.
  • Collaborate with the supervisor to develop and update training materials.
  • Help the supervisor and manager in training current employees on new systems and procedures.
  • Handle escalated calls from staff, taking ownership of resolutions while keeping the supervisor informed of any issues.
  • Monitor the Cancellation phone line messages and manage incoming cancellation requests, as well as the rescheduling of appointments.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures established by Orthopaedic Solutions Management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile:

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a healthcare setting with skills in Patient Access, including Registration, Scheduling, and Insurance Benefits or Authorization.
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, maintain a positive attitude, and be self-driven.
  • Comfortable in training new team members.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
