Position Overview

QinetiQ is on the lookout for a Space Systems Engineer to play a pivotal role in the next-generation development of our Advanced Fire Control Cell. The chosen candidate will provide technical direction to the Program Manager, taking on a Systems Engineering role to assist in design evaluations, testing protocols, and offering insights to ensure that vendor satellites meet the requirements of the Space Development Agency (SDA) architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and support for complex space systems integration and testing initiatives.
  • Oversee systems engineering processes, including cost, schedule, and performance metrics.
  • Assist in defining testing objectives, plans, schedules, and supervise test execution, data analysis, and report generation.
  • Collaborate with various teams and program offices to plan, coordinate, and implement system test plans and integration activities.
  • Conduct risk management activities, including identifying and assessing risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Support application product managers and enhance cross-functional team collaboration.
  • Prepare briefings, reports, and evaluations for diverse audiences, from operational personnel to senior management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in satellite and fire control systems.
  • Possession of TS/SCI clearance.
  • Proficient in requirements development and tracking.
  • Strong understanding of satellite and ground system interactions.
  • Experience in systems engineering.
  • Able to excel in a fast-paced environment with excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • 8 years of experience with satellite fire control systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira/Confluence.
  • Previous experience with Department of Defense (DoD) and/or Intelligence Community (IC) clients.
  • Current engagement with space systems.
